License & Billing FAQ

Common questions about Hawkra licensing, billing, and subscription management.

What happens when my license expires?

When a self-hosted license expires, your Hawkra instance enters read-only mode. All existing data is fully preserved and accessible for viewing, but you cannot create new assets, run scans, import data, or generate reports until you upload a new valid license.

tip

You will see a warning banner in the dashboard as your license approaches its expiry date. Renew early to avoid any interruption.

Can I switch from SaaS to self-hosted?

Yes. You can sign up for a self-hosted license directly from your SaaS account by navigating to your name dropdown and selecting Self-Hosted. From there you can purchase or generate a license key for your own infrastructure.

Your SaaS data and your self-hosted instance are completely separate. Switching to self-hosted does not migrate your SaaS data, and you can continue using both simultaneously if needed.

What's included in the free trial?

The free trial provides 7 days of unrestricted access to every feature in the platform. No credit card is required to start.

During the trial you have full access to:

  • TalonStrike advanced active reconnaissance
  • Complete OSINT toolkit
  • Unlimited AI-powered analysis
  • All import formats (Nmap, Nessus, Burp Suite, OpenVAS, ZAP, BloodHound)
  • Report generation with custom branding
  • Team collaboration and role-based access

After the trial ends, your account reverts to the Free tier unless you subscribe to Premium or purchase a self-hosted license.

How do I renew my license?

  1. Go to hawkra.io and log in to your account.
  2. Navigate to Self-Hosted in the account menu.
  3. Generate or purchase a new license.
  4. Download the license file.
  5. Upload it to your local Hawkra instance through the admin dashboard to replace the expired one.

Your instance will immediately exit read-only mode once a valid license is applied.

What are the tier limits?

Hawkra offers three tiers, each suited to different use cases:

Can I downgrade from Premium to Free?

Yes. You can downgrade at any time through the Stripe billing portal, accessible from your account settings under Billing & Subscriptions.

When you downgrade:

  • All existing data is retained and remains accessible.
  • Premium-only features (TalonStrike, advanced imports, unlimited AI) become unavailable.
  • If your workspace exceeds the free tier limit of 10 assets, you will need to reduce your asset count before you can create new ones.
note

Downgrading does not delete any data. You can upgrade again at any time to regain access to premium features and your full dataset.
